During the last year of our graphic design studies I collaborated on a rebranding project with Fien Robbe and created the new identity for the legendary WalkmanDD. We chose for this product because of the rise of modern tape culture.
Our graphic concept was to concentrate on the feelings, as the casettes can put you in a different mood, than the cds and vinyls. Receiving or listening to a mixtape on casette is very emotional. We created also special editions for various intense feelings: shattered, melancholic and lustful. Listen the way you feel.
We interpreted the tapes and their sounds as microorganisms, embodied by the cassette player, the Walkman. This contrast between the fluid, organic inside and the sharp, artificial outside can be found in our whole identity.
